Sarah Harris

Sarah Harris grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana. She attended LSU and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance.   After completing 10 years of service as an officer in the US Army, Sarah and her husband landed in San Antonio, Texas where she attended the University of Texas at San Antonio and earned a Master’s of Music in horn performance.

She served as Assistant Director of Bands at Alamo Heights Junior School for 2 years, then Head Band Director at Krueger Middle School, both in San Antonio, TX. She and her husband relocated to Waco, Texas, where she worked as Head Band Director in Waco ISD middle schools (Tennyson, Lake Air). After retiring, Sarah taught brass lessons for McLennan Community College, directed the pep band, and assisted with the college wind ensemble. She was also responsible for creating a faculty and staff band at MCC referred to as “Friday Band.”

Her horn performance studies include work with Richard Norem (Baton Rouge Symphony) and Stig Jensen (San Antonio Symphony). During her graduate studies at UTSA, Mrs. Harris won the Concerto-Aria Competition, culminating in a solo performance with the University Orchestra. She has been a member of the Albany (GA) Symphony and the Victoria (TX) Symphony.

Presently, Sarah is a member of the Cedar Creek Community Band (Lebanon, TN) and the Two Rivers Symphony Orchestra (Hermitage, TN), and has performed with the Nashville Philharmonic Orchestra. She also belongs to the American Recorder Society. She, her husband Brian, and their crazy dog Carley love the beautiful state of Tennessee.
